A bride commits suicide on dowry related issues

Agartala, April 26 (FD) A young lady and mother of a son committed suicide by jumping before a running train in North Tripura district.

The deceased was identified as Monika Shukla Baidya, who was married to Indian army personnel Shanku Shukla Baidya and living with her in-laws. The mother-in law and other relatives used to abuse her on the demand of Rs. two lakh as dowry from her family.

She left her in-laws house and started staying with her parents, but returned to her in-laws house following a mutual meeting between the parents and the in-laws. But again returned to her parents’.

She gave birth to a son in her parents’ house, but again sent back to her in-laws house following a mediation effort.

Going back there she found that her husband was engaged in an illicit relation and then decided to jump before a running train.

Her body was recovered by railway personnel and handed over to police.

Following a complaint by the parent’s house a case was registered and investigation is on. FD JK
