6th Arunachal Literature Festival begins in Itanagar

The 6th edition of the Arunachal Literature Festival began in Itanagar today. The three-day event was inaugurated by Governor Lt Gen KT Parnaik (Retd) in the presence of the state’s Home Minister Mama Natung, IPR Minister Nyato Dukam and a host of literary figures and enthusiasts at DK Convention Centre Itanagar.
Addressing the gathering, the governor said that Literature festivals create a powerful positive effect by fostering cultural exchange, encouraging creativity and promoting love for reading and writing. He said it creates a more literate, empathetic and connected society. He said the Arunachal Lit Fest provides a platform for local authors and poets and encourages them in the field of literature.
On the occasion, a book titled “Myth, Memory and Folktale of the Wancho Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh”, jointly authored by Tara Douglas from England and Jatwang Wangsa from Arunachal Pradesh was also released by the Governor.
State’s Information and Public Relations Secretary, Nyali Ete informed that this year the Literature Festival has added two new things to its agenda and those are the addition of a children’s corner and a storytelling session at Ane’s Home, a Healing Centre for Trauma Victims at Women Police Station Itanagar.
