440 families in Ompi Block receive assistance for chicken rearing under MSPY

Agartala, Jun 18 (FD) In a bid to promote self-sufficiency and boost rural livelihoods, altogether 440 families in Ompi Block were provided assistance for rearing chickens under the Mukhyamantri Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana (MSPY).
The initiative was introduced by the government with the aim to empower families by equipping them with the necessary resources to engage in poultry farming.
Under the program, each beneficiary family has received 10 chickens along with poultry farming materials.
The scheme has incurred a total expenditure of Rs 5.72 lakh in the current financial year.
Furthermore, the Deputy Director of the Animal Resource Development Office, Pritam Sarkar, highlighted the plans to extend assistance to other livestock sectors in the current fiscal year.
In the coming months, 148 families will receive support for rearing ducks, 100 families for rearing pigs, and 50 families for rearing goats under the Mukhyamantri Swanirbhar Parivar Yojana, Sarkar said.
