Agartala, Mar 11 (FD) Three persons who were arrested in connection with alleged attack on the delegation of Left-Congress delegation consisting MPs, AICC and PCC leaders at Nehalchandra Nagar in Bishalgarh on Friday sent to a local court on Saturday, an official press release said.
Police admitted that the opposition delegation comprising seven MPs were attacked by the miscreants, but stated that they were unidentified.
The delegation which visited the N.C Nagar market area to interact with the shop keepers and local people, whose shops were burnt by miscreants on Thursday night, came under attack by at least 70 miscreants who allegedly vandalized their vehicles, police said.
As the security personnel failed to control the mob, the miscreants attacked the vehicles of the delegation with sticks, the press release said.
However, the security personnel managed to give safe passage to the convoy of the CPIM and congress delegation.
Later, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Majumder with a team of CRPF personnel rushed to the spot and took control of the situation.
Meanwhile, Majumder submitted sou-motto complaint and based on that a specific case was registered at the police station.
Later, Officer-In-charge of the police station visited the areas and launched a search operation to detain the culprits responsible behind the incident.
The police managed to detain three miscreants allegedly involved in the attack and brought to the police station on Friday night.
Later on Saturday morning the three arrested persons were sent forwarded to the Court, the press release added. FD PD JK
