Agartala, Jan 7 (FD) Being frustrated by the performances of the ruling BJP and the opposition Congress, 255 Reang voters of the 85 families on Thursday joined Congress by taking the flag from the hand of the President of the Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) in Dhalai district, sources in the Congress party said.
The programme was organised by the ‘Adibasi Congress’ at Kanchapara, a remote tribal hamlet in Gandacherra subdivision of the Dhalai district.
The tribal voters had expressed their keenness to work hard for the betterment of the party and informed that more people of the community have evinced interests to join the party, Dhalai district President of the Adivasi Congress said.
The TPCC President, Asish Saha also told reporters that the tribal voters in good numbers are interested to join a secular party like Congress.
He said, “People are now frustrated with the deceptive and false promises of the ruling BJP, so they showed interests to join our party. The BJP unit of the Raima Valley had organised another rally to sabotage our programme, but they failed miserably”. FD JK
