Agartala, Nov 2 (FD) Total 2,46,265 registered farmers of the state have received benefits under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department Apurba Roy said on Tuesday.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat Roy said, “The number of farmers registered under the scheme is 2 lakh 46 thousand 265. The remaining are also in the process of getting inclusion in this scheme. So far Rs 499.79 crore has been disbursed to the beneficiary farmers in the state.”
Hailing the role of Tripura government he said, “The state government is working with the target of doubling the income of famers by 2022-2023 besides increasing the production of agricultural products.”
With the active support of the Central and State Governments, the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has taken all-out initiatives to achieve the target, he added.
In the press conference, the secretary informed that the present state government has tried to give loans to all farmers through Kisan credit cards. For this purpose special KCC Saturation Camps are being held in all Panchayat and Village Committees of the State, he added.
In this context Roy mentioned that in the last four and-a-half years (2018-19 to September, 2022), loans of 1,337,500,000 rupees have been given to 2,71,613 farmers in the state.
He also pointed out that after the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana from 2020-21, the paddy farmers of the state are getting an opportunity to get insurance by paying a premium of only Rs 10 per kani.
In the interests of the farmers of the state, the present government has provided a total of 11 crore 88 lakh ruppes as assistance and subsidy from the state budget in 2020-21 and 2021-22 to bring most of the paddy farmers under this scheme.
As a result of this, it has been possible to bring a total of 8 lakh 88 thousand 769 farmers under insurance coverage from 2018-19 to 2022-23, Roy added.
He informed that from 2018-19 to 2021-22, a total of 80 thousand 541 farmers were given crop compensation of 5 crore 92 lakh rupees.
The Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department also informed in the press conference that the government has already decided that 5 new agricultural sub-divisions will be started in Jolaibari, BC Nagar, Poangbari, Nalchar and Bamutia blocks and one new horticulture subdivision in Jampuihill.
