23 Bangladeshi infiltrators remanded to police custody for three days

Agartala, July 29 (FD) 23 Bangladeshi infiltrators, who were arrested from Agartala railway station on Saturday evening were remanded to police custody for three days.
23 Bangladeshi were arrested at Agartala Railway Station as they were preparing to board a train to Chennai. The operation was conducted by a joint team from the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and Government Railway Police (GRP) based on specific intelligence.
The detainees, aged between 19 and 49, were found to lack valid travel documents. They had planned to travel to Chennai via Guwahati in search of employment. The GRP officer-in-charge, Tapas Das, confirmed that the group was presented before a local court and remanded to three days in police custody.
Among those arrested, Md Selim Reja (27) was identified as a tout involved in facilitating their illegal entry. All individuals are residents of Chapainawabganj district in Bangladesh’s Rajshahi division. This incident follows recent arrests of Indian touts suspected of aiding similar illegal activities. Authorities are intensifying surveillance at railway stations to combat trafficking and illegal entry. FD SB JK
