16th Finance Commission to arrive here on January 29

Agartala, Jan 21 (FD) A team of the 16th Finance Commission headed by its chairman and a prominent economist, Aravind Panagariya will arrive here on January 29, official sources said on Tuesday.

The team during its stay in the state will interact with different officials, Agartala Municipal Corporation and the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC).

This team would finalise its non-plan fund requirements of the state.

Chief Secretary J K Sinha has already instructed officials to find out the details to be furnished to the commission and also to make a charer of demands to be placed to them.

Similarly, the AMC and the TTAADC were also asked to prepare their detailed memoranda.

Generally the Finance Commission clears up the DAs of the employees and the pensioners, but the state government is yet to be clear up their dues to the employees. 

However, officials said they would clear up the dues before the commission frames up its full report and the recommendations. FD JK
