12000 households have installed solar power grids in Tripura and reaping benefits from it

Agartala, March 18 (FD) Tripura Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana has started yielding results in Tripura as over 12,000 households in the state have been generating power through solar grids.
He said this in an event in Mohanpur under Jirania block in West Tripura district. He stated that 12,500 homes in the state were lighting up from the solar grid of the PM surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
“They have installed solar grids of their own and generating energy of their need and saving their energy bills and getting government subsidies”, Nath said.
He said one person can purchase a solar plant @ of Rs. 1.5 lakh and receives a subsidy of Rs.66,000 which is credited by a month itself.
Nath said that due to installation of this plant his own power bill has dropped to zero from Rs. 6,000 to 7,000 per month.
“In fact now I receive Rs.7,000 from the state Electricity Corporation Ltd every month as they buy my surplus power from my own grid. It does not reduce the electricity cost only, but also provides an opportunity for earning”, Nath added.
He also instructed the officials of the power department to encourage power customers whose energy bill is above Rs 800 per month and to take benefits from the scheme.
The government has set a target of installing power grids in at least 50,000 households and launched a campaign in this regards. FD JK
