11th Sikkim Legislative Assembly Inaugurated With Pro-Tem Speaker Sanjeet Kharel Presiding

The first session of the 11th Sikkim Legislative Assembly held today with the Pro-tem Speaker Sanjeet Kharel in the chair. The House has unanimously elected ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) candidate and former minister of the State, Mingma Norbu Sherpa as Speaker and party MLA Rajkumari Thapa as Deputy Speaker.

At the beginning of the session, the newly elected members have been taken oath as Member of the State Legislative Assembly by the Pro-tem Speaker in the House .

The SKM retained power in the State for its second term winning 31 out of 32 seats in the just concluded state assembly election.

The newly elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker thanked all the members of the House and sought their full cooperation for smooth conduct of the House. Later, the Speaker adjourned the session of House sine-die.
