117 voters from BJP, CPIM join Congress

Agartala, Oct 28 (FD) Ahead of ensuing assembly election in Tripura, a total of 117 BJP and CPIM workers from 18 families including BJP’s Dhalai District Zilla Sabhadhipati Ruby Ghosh and Khowai District social worker Pradyut Bhattacharya joined Congress on Friday.
The party’s lone MLA Sudip Roy Barman, leader Ashish Kumar Saha along with other leaders welcomed the newcomers at conference at Congress Bhavan here on Friday afternoon.
Burman told reporters that the people in the state were disillusioned by the type of governance delivered by BJP in last four and half years.
He alleged that of law and order in the state had collapsed and slammed the government for its failure to maintain law and order in the state.
Taking a jibe, Burman, a turncoat from BJP said, around 13 incidents of rapes are taking place in the state every month which has tarnished the image of the state.
Burman, also a former Trinamool leader said, people had removed the Marxist government with the hope of better governance from BJP to power, but they were frustrated.
Everyone now believes that only the Congress party can fulfill the hopes of the humiliated and deprived common people of the state, Barman, who joined many other parties and rejoined Congress said. FD PD JK
