Agartala, July 3 (FD) Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested eleven Bangladeshi nationals at Agartala railway station yesterday, based on secret information.
The group, consisting of nine women with their children and two men, had entered India illegally from Bangladesh, aiming to travel to Bangalore, Chennai, and Kolkata by train
Officer in Charge of the GRP police station, Tapas Das said that the arrests were made following a tip-off about illegal border crossings in the Sepahijala district. During initial interrogation, the detainees admitted to entering India with the help of touts from both countries. While job-seeking motives were apparent, the possibility of human trafficking remains under investigation.
A case has been registered at the Agartala GRP Police Station, and the arrested individuals were presented in court today. The apprehended individuals are: Alamin Sardar (36), Abu Hanif Sardar (22), Sumaya Akhtar (18), Tumpa Haque (18), Baishakhi (13), Lakhi Akter (25), Jharna Begum (30), Aduri Khanam (24), Akhi Sekh (27), Lakhi Akter (25), and Deepa (34), all from various districts in Bangladesh.
Earlier, on June 30, eleven Bangladeshi nationals were arrested. In total, 22 Bangladeshi nationals who entered India illegally have been arrested at Agartala railway station over the past three days while attempting to board trains out of the state. FD SB JK
