Agartala, Apr 27 (FD) According to the recruitment notification of Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited published on October 28, 2023, a total of 156 employees across various categories were to be recruited. However, the number of eligible candidates far exceeded expectations, with a total of 19,664 applicants for these positions.
Initially, Agartala was selected as the preferred venue for the online examination. However, the capacity of online examination centers in Tripura was limited to approximately 560 persons per shift. Efforts were made to prioritize women and persons with disabilities for examination slots in Agartala.
Subsequently, the online examinations for Clerk, Multi-Tasking Staff, and Officer positions were scheduled for May 3rd, 4th, and 5th, 2024, respectively. While Agartala was designated as the primary examination center, due to insufficient capacity and a large number of applicants, not all candidates could be accommodated there.
In response to this challenge, examination centers were allocated to several candidates in neighboring states such as Assam, including Silchar, Guwahati, Jorhat, Dibrugarh, and Tezpur, as per Clause (VI) under Examination Centers in the Advertisement.
Both the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) and Tripura State Cooperative Bank Limited have made concerted efforts over the past 4-5 months to address the challenges faced by applicants in securing examination seats in Agartala. As an alternative solution, arrangements have been made for the conduct of the online examination in the neighboring state of Assam to ensure fairness and accessibility for all candidates. FD SB JK
