Agartala, Apr 30 (FD) Tahera Khatun, a senior leader of the CPI (M) and president of the Dukli Subdivisional Committee of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Association, passed away yesterday evening after battling cancer at her residence in the Naboday Para area of North Jogendra Nagar.
A dedicated Anganwadi worker, Tahera was deeply involved in the community and political affairs of her locality, also serving as a member of the Naboday branch committee of the CPI (M) in North Jogendra Nagar.
Tahera remained resilient, undergoing chemotherapy at the regional cancer hospital in Agartala. Her unwavering commitment to her party and community was evident, as she continued her work despite facing harassment from anti-social elements following the fall of the left-wing government in 2018.
Prominent CPI (M) leaders, including state committee member Samar Chakraborty and secretaries of the Bankumari local committee, Babul Debnath and Biswajit Saha, along with leaders of CITU and other party units, gathered at her residence to pay their respects and attend her funeral. FD SB
